The Amateur Computer Group of New Jersey is the oldest personal computer club and user group in the world. I've been a member since the early 1980s. The support of groups like the ACGNJ was vital back then. Among other things, they originated and currently co-sponsor the world-famous Trenton Computer Festival.
The IEEE is the world's largest professional association dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. Besides the IEEE, I'm part of their Computer Society, where my local section is Princeton/Central Jersey.
The Association for Computing Machinery is the world's largest educational and scientific computing society, delivering resources that advance computing as a science and a profession. The ACM provides the computing field's premier Digital Library and serves its members and the computing profession with leading-edge publications, conferences, and career resources.
I've maintained my membership for quite a few years but, I must admit, I'm not the most active member in the world.
The Harley Owners Group has a very simple mission: "To ride and have fun." How can you not get behind that? H.O.G. is an international organization consisting of an umbrella group administered directly by Harley-Davidson and local chapters sponsored by dealerships. I've been a member of both for many years.
The local dealership/sponsor, first Edison H-D then Highroads H-D after Edison was sold, has closed. Without sponsorship, our H.O.G. chapter has gone independent. The incorporation of our new club, Unified Harley Riders, is nearly complete.
The reality is that I tend to ride alone but there are still some advantages to maintaining a national H.O.G. membership anyway.
The Patriot Guard Riders, on the other hand, have a very complex mission: "[...] an unwavering respect for those who risk their very lives for America's freedom and security."
That some individuals see the funeral services of fallen American heros to be a venue for protest offends me deeply. I'm proud to align myself with the Patriot Guard Riders, to help shield mourning families and friends from interruption in their time of grief.
The National Rifle Association raises tax-deductible contributions in support of a wide range of firearms-related public interest activities of the National Rifle Association of America and other organizations that defend and foster the Second Amendment rights of all law-abiding Americans. These activities are designed to promote firearms and hunting safety, to enhance marksmanship skills of those participating in the shooting sports, and to educate the general public about firearms in their historic, technological and artistic context.
The Universal Life Church is the only denomination in the world that opens its doors to all. The ULC ministry represents freedom, and counts me among its Ministers. We are one. You are, too.
