email is actually the preferred method to reach me. Send to plav@timeoff.org. This well-attended address receives several hundreds of messages daily. Due to volume there's a fair amount of automation that categorizes and prioritizes traffic before I see it. Please exercise patience.

Google+

If you take social done right and crash it headlong into discovery you'll see something like Google+ if you sift through the debris. Now in Public Beta (no invitations necessary!), you owe it to yourself to check it out. You'll like what you find. Here's a link to my verified profile.

Google Talk

I was involved with a project where I needed a Google Talk account and found it to be a useful tool. If you notice me online to can use it to interrupt me - even if you're not a Google Talk user yourself.

When I signed up for the account Google forced me to setup a GMail account, too. Sometime later they said I could rid of GMail if I wished. The trouble was (there's always a gotcha) they warned that the GMail account deletion would be permanent; the username could never, ever be re-used. I left it alone. You never know, I could change my mind about GMail at some future date. The upshot is that Google Talk works, but you shouldn't bother using the GMail address because I mostly pretend it doesn't exist.

Phone

Call (732) 305-0121. It'll usually find me wherever I roam. If your call is intercepted by some sort of automation please use the available features. Screening, messaging, it's all there for a reason that's important to me at that moment. Make your messages as content-rich as possible: little or no content in your message generally results in little or no chance of a return call.

Twitter

Yeah, I've got a Twitter account. Doesn't everyone? Truth be told I've got several that I use for various purposes. But twitter.com/rplav is where I'm actually the real, flesh-n-blood person at the keyboard.

Facebook

I held out for years before finally giving in. Find me at facebook.com/rick.plavnicky. Don't expect much. I don't care much for Zuckerberg's cavalier attitude toward privacy so I hold Facebook at arm's length while wishing my arms were a bit longer. Still, it's got its uses.
