Rick Plavnicky's Work

In 2007, following a quarter century of corporate IT work I formed Wishniak, LLC, a privately held business & technology services venture.

Wishniak, LLC

Both the company name and tagline - "One per horse. Two per chicken." - have amusing stories behind them. (You simply cannot Rick accepts small business loan from George W., while Bill and friend look on. underestimate the value of storytelling when it comes to lodging yourself in someone's memory!) I'll tell you when we meet. For now, just a bit about what we do.

Today Wishniak, LLC is your one-stop for business and personal technology needs. Your online presence is one of the most important non-tangibles you own. More and more you hear about it in the media. "Social Capital" is the popular buzzword.

We buy, sell and manage domains - yes, we handle all the recognized TLDs. We'll have you registered as fast as you can say "DNS propagation". Thinking about hosting your own? You should - owning your own domain and arranging your own hosting solves more problems than you think. Whatever your hosting needs, from shared to dedicated to cloud and everything in between, we've got it all. No BS We'll host you ourselves, but we're also happy to connect you to one of our world-class affliates.

Want to create a news outlet for your business - or your family? A personal or professional blog? A community? Wishniak, LLC will help you choose the right environment and tools, handle the configuration chores and even manage it, if you wish. Wordpress is our specialty.

Finally, I'm a privacy freak, something that's reflected in every aspect of the business.

Wishniak, LLC's fresh, no-bullshit approach is exactly what you need!

Yeah, well, I've never heard of you, either.

Community Service

I'm proud that my company continues its tradition of support for local causes, such as our Young Adult Drama Group. I personally mentor the award-winning High School FIRST Robotics team, Raider Robotix. We donate hosting services to a local community informational site dedicated to helping neighbors connect with neighbors.

Helping others is part of what I set out to do when I formed the company.

More

I participate in the LinkedIn community and my profile is but a click away. It's a little out of date right now, but way more current than it has been in a long time.

Spare bandwidth continues to be somewhat of a luxury these days. Still, I may be able to free some up in order to participate in your project - IF it's interesting enough. Feel free to contact me (email preferred) if you're interested in a conversation about what I have to offer.

The company runs this Twitter account but doesn't really do much with it, for some reason.

Corporate

In my roles with a very well-known business credit services corporation I was responsible for all phases of development technology reporting in their global environment. During my tenure I bridged senior management, technology and finance teams, turning data into the information required to profitably manage and staff a comprehensive suite of projects, while setting the stage for subsequent rounds of automation. One aspect of that - one that I'm not particularly proud of but performed quite effectively - was helping to decimate the technology development staff, shifting the organization to a heavily outsourced, offshore model.

Along the way I gained a great deal of experience with project and resource management and related tool sets such as Empire Time, Clarity, Mercury ITG and a raft of others and I honed my Information Engineering skills.

Do I regret leaving Corporate Life? Not in the least. Leaving was the best thing I did, before it took its toll on my health. Took over a year and a half to shake off the accumulated stress. I do, however, deeply miss my old team, some of the best people I ever had the pleasure of working with. And I wish the company continued success; after all I own a bunch of their stock!
